Is RSA.Irish free?
Yes. RSA.Irish is a completely free, independent educational project. You can practise the full question bank, take mock exams and study Road English without paying and without creating an account. There are no ads and no paywall; the project is supported by voluntary donations only.
What is the Irish Driver Theory Test?
The Driver Theory Test (DTT) is the official computer-based exam you must pass in Ireland before applying for a learner permit. The car and motorcycle test (category BW) has 40 multiple-choice questions and you need 35 correct answers (about 88%) to pass. RSA.Irish helps you prepare for it with practice questions in the same style.
Are these the official Driver Theory Test questions?
No. RSA.Irish uses original practice questions written from the Road Safety Authority's Rules of the Road. They are not the official examination questions and are not a substitute for the official Driver Theory Test. They are designed to teach the same rules, signs and safe-driving knowledge so you are ready for the real exam.
Can I practise in Ukrainian or Russian?
Yes. Every question is shown in English (the language of the real test) with an optional Ukrainian or Russian translation underneath, so you learn the rule and the English wording at the same time. This makes RSA.Irish especially useful for Ukrainians and other newcomers preparing for the Irish test.
How many practice questions are there?
The bank currently has more than 800 trilingual questions covering all Driver Theory Test topics: road signs, rules of the road, motorway driving, speed and stopping distances, junctions and parking, vehicle safety, hazard awareness and more.
Are the road signs real Irish signs?
Yes. Sign questions use the real official Irish road-sign images taken from the Road Safety Authority Rules of the Road and the Department of Transport Traffic Signs Manual — nothing is hand-drawn or invented, so you learn the signs exactly as they appear on the road and in the exam.
Do I need to create an account?
No. You can use everything as a guest and your progress is saved on your device. Creating a free account is optional and simply keeps your progress safe, lets you continue on your phone and computer, and stores your mock-exam history.
Does RSA.Irish work offline, and can I install it?
Yes. RSA.Irish is a Progressive Web App: you can install it to your home screen from your browser, and after the first visit the app, the question bank and the road signs are cached so you can keep practising with no internet connection.
How do the mock exams work?
A mock exam mirrors the real Driver Theory Test format: 40 questions drawn across the topics with a time limit, marked against the official 35/40 pass mark. It is the best way to check whether you are ready before booking the real test.
What is Road English?
Road English is a built-in module that teaches the driving and road-safety vocabulary a learner needs — around a thousand words and phrases with translations, examples and an interactive car diagram. It helps non-native English speakers understand both the test and real driving situations in Ireland.
Is my progress private?
Yes. As a guest, your progress stays in your browser on your device and is never uploaded. If you create an account, your progress syncs to that account so you can restore it on another device; you can request access to, or deletion of, your data at any time by email.
Is RSA.Irish connected to the Road Safety Authority?
No. In this project the letters RSA stand for Rural Speed Ambition, not the Road Safety Authority. RSA.Irish is an independent educational project and is not the Road Safety Authority, TheoryTest.ie, Prometric, the Department of Transport or any government service, and is not endorsed by them. Always book and sit the official test through the official service.
